Maker Camps

A young child wearing a face mask is hammering a triangle shaped element at The Re.Imaginaries Maker Summer Camp in NE Portland, Oregon.

Calling all young makers! Spend four days at The Tool School learning about materials and tools, designing a creative project of your choosing, and seeing it through to completion! We’ll each explore the materials of copper, leather, wood, and textiles. Then you’ll decide what you want to build, make, or create. The opportunities are endless!

You might construct a costume you’ve always wanted to wear, make a pet collar for your favorite furry friend, build a stuffie from scratch, hand carve a wooden statue or figurine, use recycled materials to make a robot or new toy, or maybe make your very own leather backpack. Bring your inspiration and we’ll make it come to life.

Days 1 + 2: Exploration of materials and tools

Day 3 + 4: Making of your final projects!

Thanks to the Regional Arts & Culture Council’s Make|Learn|Build grant opportunity, we have upgraded all of our sewing tools for our Makers’ tool kits.

A note about our masking policy

We have always set out to be an all-inclusive space, and to provide opportunities for those who may be unable to participate in these experiences otherwise. Because this is the case, we will still be requiring masks for our summer camps.

We want to continue to be a place where immuno-compromised youth can still enjoy a vibrant community experience, while simultaneously establishing a space where community care is inherently a part of the curriculum.

Even if your child hasn’t been masking recently, we are excited to encourage them to join us in this practice of looking out for everyone in our community.

We will share plenty of times where students can take mask breaks, and we will host a lunch break each day where students will be eating on their own individual blankets at the park.

We are grateful for your understanding and empathy on this issue! Together, we are building a kinder, more compassionate world!

The Re.Imaginaries Camps infuse your child’s summer with inspiration, entertainment, and energy that will last far beyond our in-person time together!

We can’t wait to imagine with you!

“The camp has been a true bright spot for our kiddo. She looks forward to it every day. On camp days she is cheerful long after the session is over, and she is really proud of what she has been working on!” — Neha Patel
