We Believe in Imagination, Collaboration,
+ the Power of Play

The world needs more Imaginaries.

More people exercising and flexing their imaginative muscles, dreaming up new ways and new stories.

Being an Imaginary is like being a visionary, with an emphasis on building the creative capacity necessary to dream up a better world.

The Re.Imaginaries Camps + Classes are inspiration central for our young creatives, dreamers, and makers. Led by Caitlin and blue, we invite young people into the fantastical world of creative problem solving, collaboration, making, and self-expression.

Over the last twenty years we have guided young people on a creative journey of a lifetime as they discover not only their individual gifts but also the magic of working together — to build something amazing.

“My child and I experienced unparalleled warmth and authenticity when we spent our time at The Reframe Collective. As guides in matters of creativity, confidence, awareness and play, Caitlin + blue’s energy is simultaneously soothing and dynamically enthusiastic. They meet every human where they are at, and create a safe space for exploring our inner and outer worlds, without pretense or script. Their style and elements are the fertile ground of imagination and agency, and we are so grateful we found them!”

—E. Ironwood, Portland Oregon

“Our children grow to be better writers, performers and thinkers because they are completely involved throughout the entire creative process. Whether exploring the health of the human body, culture and identity, or dreaming up new stories of saving the world, our children have a safe space to imagine, express themselves, and transform! We are truly grateful for Caitlin and blue’s commitment and passion for our community.”

Using Theatre to teach self-expression and collaboration

Over the last twenty-years, we’ve guided hundreds of children and teens through the early dreaming, generative momentum, and exhilarating culmination of drama camp plays. We’ve created and produced extraordinary original musicals. From concept to final bow, we’ve followed the lead of our collective imaginations, and watched our visions come to life.

Theatre is the powerful throughline that presents young people with a chance to not only discover their individual gifts, but also to work as an ensemble, explore literature and history, and creatively imagine a brighter future. Our students and campers are invited to take risks, use their imaginations, and empathize with the larger world as they devise new pieces of theatre.

See below for some of our creations over the years.

Original Musicals

The Imaginaries original musicals are a joint effort between motivated drama students and professional artists. With the help of a composer and a script writer, students can bring their wildest dreams to life, envisioning colorful characters and contributing to lyrics, dialogue, and story lines. By combining meaningful narratives with catchy songs, these original musicals allow students to sing, dance, and act their hears out while delivering affirmational and empowering messages.

Once Upon a Town

The children of the most beloved fairy tale characters band together to shake off their parents' legacies and expectations. Together they find their own individual identities and join forces to defeat evil.

Hip Hop Health

In this high-energy musical, the audience is invited to join the protagonist on a journey to personal health as she spends the day watching TV and channel surfing her way to a thorough understanding of healthy living.

Seven Generations

Inspired by the students' real life ancestors, Seven Generations helps performers and audience members connect with their forefathers and foremothers, consider their own legacies, and discover thoughtful and beneficial ways to provide for the generations to come.

We Are All Connected

When the local watering hole becomes contaminated, the nocturnal and diurnal forest animals must put aside their differences to address the disaster. Through trial and error, they learn that quick fixes don't work. Instead, they must collaborate to get to the root of the problem.

Remaking The World

Superheroes travel from far and wide to the International Superhero Convention, where they attend workshops and panel discussions, visit merchandise booths, and strengthen the bonds within their community. When disaster strikes, they must rise to occasion and use their super skills to remake the world.

The Upstanders

The Upstanders is a secret society of reformed bullies and anti-bullying advocates that works furtively throughout the school and community, responding to incidents of bullying, standing up to aggressors, and supporting victims. They recruit worthy students to join their ranks and require strict allegiance to the Upstander Pledge. When a faction of bullies gains power, the Upstanders are forced to reconsider their secrecy. They’ll need many more members and a much wider impact if they want to have any hope of turning the tide against bullies and making their community safe for all.

Microbiome, My Home

We journey inside the human body, exploring the intriguing world of our microbiome. Humans are a host to a vast array of microorganisms known collectively as the microbiome, which affects many aspects of our health and happiness. From Fairy Gutmothers, to the Body System Council, to the Ego, we were interested in how to use characters to help us better understand what is going on in our bodies, and how it is similar to what is going on with the Earth as well. Join us as we get microscopic and discover together the ways that diversity makes a community thrive!
